On Thursday 25th October, 2012 the Russian Navy Sorum Class (Project 745) Ocean Going Tug MB-304 entered Grand Harbour, Malta for the first time berthing at Boiler Wharf.




She was built at the Yaroslav Zavod Shipyard as yard no 409 in 1973 and commissioned 29th July 1977 and was assigned to the Black Sea Fleet.





She has a length overall (loa) of 55.60 metres with 12.60 metres beam and a draft of 4.60 metres. She has 2 diesel electric propulsion systems leading to one shaft that develops a total output of 3,000 bhp with a maximum speed of 13.8 knots. She has 2 Fire Monitors and a compliment of 35 crew. MB stands for Morskoy Buksir (Seagoing Tug)
She left Valletta bound to Taranto, Italy for the IONEX 2012 Military Exercise on Sunday 28th October, 2012.
