Passer By – ROTA ENDURANCE towing TORO – 19.05.2022

On Thursday 19th May, 2022 the 2003 built MHL flag offshore tug/supply ship ROTA ENDURANCE towing the 152 metre pipe layer platform TORO was seen in the Maltese Territorial Waters around 1120 hrs. When asked by Valletta VTS what were the intentions, radio officer replied (Dutch accent) that she was intended to uplift bunkers but were cancelled and to proceed to her destination at Aliaga, Turkey.

ROTA ENDURANCE was built in Norway by Vard Soviknes at Sovik for Gulf Offshore, Aberdeen, United Kingdom (UK) in 2003 as the HIGHLAND ENDURANCE. Back to 2009 she was seen at Malta uplifting bunkers.

In October 2020 she started trading as ROTA ENDURANCE for the Turkish Company Rota Shipping Inc who is a cash buyer of Ship Recycling.

TORO is the former pipe layer platform CASTORO SEI. She was built by Italcantieri S.p.A. (now Fincantieri) Genova, Italy with yard no 4334 in October 1978 as the CASTORO SEI.She has given many years of service to her owners and operators Saipem. If you have heard of the pipelines Nord Stream, Medgaz, Europipe II and Blue Stream, this vessel has worked on them all. The Black Sea, Mediterranean, Baltic, just about everywhere in fact.

She left her laid up position at Eemshaven, Netherlands back to Thursday 21st April, 2022 To Aliaga, Turkey as her final destination and breaking.

Dear Lawrence. Nice pictures of the former PLB Castoro sei. Nice memories with this barge. I have worked with te C6 from 2007 – 2012.

Unforgetable memories of Castoro Sei. Woking here from 1997-2020 as electronics, then Chief Electrian for 11years. Very good pipelay vessel.
