Malta Drydocks – Crude Oil Tanker GENMAR SUN – from 17.04 to 18.05.2002

One of the ships that was seen twice under different names was the 1985 built Japanese crude oil tanker GENMAR SUN.

She was built in 1985 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Co Ltd Sakaide in Japan as ATLANTIC AMITY for Auskerry Limited ( Island Navigation Corporation Hong Kong as manager ) Hong Kong.

In 1990 she was sold to Glefi Shipping Company Ltd (Unicom Management Service (Cyprus) Limassol as manager) Monrovia Liberia and renamed as GLEFI III. Few months later she was sold to K/S Stavanger Sun (DSD Shipping Stavanger Norway as manager) Stavanger, Norway and renamed as STAVANGER SUN of which she was seen at Malta Drydocks back to November 1999.

Then in 1999 she was sold to Genmar Maritime Corporation LLC , New York, USA and renamed GENMAR SUN.

On Wednesday 17th April she entered Grand Harbour berthing at the Tank Cleaning Farm (TCF) and shifted the day after berthing at Boiler Wharf of which she left on Saturday 18th May, 2002.
