Casualties – MFA 384 PEPPINA at Marsalforn Bay, Gozo – 13.11.2021

On Saturday 13th November, 2021 thanks to Alldive Ltd Personnel together with TugMalta Personnel saved the 12.65 metre fishing vessel MFA 384 PEPPINA from sinking though her stern was already underwater at Marsalforn Bay, Gozo.

Normally MFA 384 PEPPINA is moored at the Menqa in Marsalforn Bay of which last June she was spotted there but it seems there is a dispute between the owner and the authorities.

On Thursday 11th November, heavy rainfall descended on the Maltese Islands, with Gozo being particularly heavy hit. Some 115.3 mm of rainfall was recorded in Għajnsielem and severe flooding and damage were reported in Marsalforn. Infact the 12.65 metres fishing boat was left in the middle of the bay of which oil spill was reported with Transport Malta Maritime Department assessing the situation.

The 14.06 metres coastal tugboat GOZZO was dispatched of which she left Grand Harbour, Malta at 1427 hrs.

At the same time Alldive Ltd fast response boat LOBSTER equipped with all diving & salvage equipment rushed to the scene.

She was saved just in time and she was secured at the Menqa once again.

After PEPPINA was secured all assets returned back to Grand Harbour, Malta.
