On Monday 23rd August, 2021 around 0745 hrs shortly after the 2018 built high speed craft YOUR FAITH left Mgarr Harbour, Gozo a fire broke out and all passengers on board were disembarked safely aboard the Comino Ferries Co-Op passenger boat MIDAS I with Transport Malta (TM) rib S21402 in attendance. No one was injured and the fire suppression systems were engaged by the crew immediately.
Gozo Fast Ferry stated their engineers encountered a technical fault on the vessel, and an internal investigation to determine the cause of the fire is currently underway. According to my sources this might be a crank issue. Civil Protection Department deployed 3 vehicles while the rescue rib D1 left Grand Harbour for assistance and entered back again at 0939 hrs as per below images –
