Heavy Lift – BBC ONYX entering Marsaxlokk Harbour to deliver Tugboat SENGLEA – 12.01.2021

On Tuesday 12th January, 2021 at 1013 hrs the 2011 built Multipurpose Heavy Lifter BBC ONYX entered Marsaxlokk Harbour, Malta bound to Medserv Base for discharging a Damen RSD 2513 tug SENGLEA for Tug Malta.

BBC ONYX was built in China by Sainty Jiangdu Shipbuilding at Jiangdu as RAN J for the German Ship Owner Jungerhans Reederei based at Haren Ems. Chartered as INDUSTRIAL FORCE twice, then she was chartered again and renamed as BBC ONYX from June 2019 and she’s one of 13 in her class. She has 2 NMF cranes on her portside with 400 mt capacity each and 1 NMF crane situated on her starboard side with 80 mt capacity.

Her interesting deck cargo are 3 newbuildings tugs from Damen Shipyards – Damen RSD 2513 SENGLEA for TugMalta

Another Damen RSD 2513 tug – GABRIELLA NERI for Neri Group, Italy –

And a Damen ASD 2310 for the Russian Delo Service Company named as DELOVOY-6. She’s the sixth ASD tug in a series by the company bought from Damen. She holds 50 tonnes bollard pull and will be used in the Black Sea at the Port of Novorossiysk.
