Cable Laying News – ILE D’OUESSANT latest acquisition for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs in Malta – 21.10.2020

On Wednesday 21st October, 2020 at 0749 hrs the latest acquisition for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, France the 2011 built cable layer ILE D’OUESSANT entered Grand Harbour, Malta for the first time after coming from Dakar Anchorage, Senegal.

She was built in China by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry at Wuhan in 2011 as the TOISA WARRIOR for Sealion Shipping, UK. In 2018 Sealion Shipping under a fleet management company Toisa hired shipbroking specialist Clarksons to sell 26 vessels after the company filed for Chapter 11. TOISA WARRIOR together with TOISA VOYAGER were bought during March 2019.

TOISA WARRIOR was laid up in UK for 3years and due survey and drydock, she was purchased for $6 million. Afterwards she was warmed up and mobilized with cable maintenance equipment in Remontowa Shipyard in Poland. Before entering in active service, ILE D’OUESSANT has finalised cable spread commissioning at Louis Dreyfus TravOcean base in Dunkirk.

She left Dunkirk, France on 18th April, 2020, heading toward Las Palmas for crew change and handover with Cable Ship PETER FABER, then Cape Verde for final wet test before to take her duty on the Atlantic Private Maintenance Agreement.

And to mobilise for Tunis she entered Valletta.

She berthed at Valletta Cruise Port Pinto 3 Wharf.

She left Grand Harbour bound to Tunis on Sunday 25th October at 1534 hrs.
