Passer By – Super Servant 4 with 2 Naval Vessels aboard – 17.09.2020

On Thursday 17th September , 2020 morning the 1982 built semi-submersible yacht carrier SUPER SERVANT 4 passed by North of Malta on her way to Varna, Bulgaria.

Interesting cargo inside her dock were 2 former Dutch Navy Tripartite Class Minehunters M 856 Hnlms MAASLUIS (Commissioned 12th December 1984) and M 859 Hnlms HELLEVOETSLUIS (Commissioned 20th February 1987) both decommissioned in 2011.

The Bulgarian Navy already operates one Tripartite Class minesweeper that was acquired in 2004 from the Belgian Navy as the M 922 MYOSOTIS . After an overhaul phase in 2009, she was commissioned as TSIBAR with pennant number 32.

During November 2019 the Bulgarian Defense Minister, Krasimir Karakatchanov,announced that an intergovernmental agreement with the Netherlands was done. The purchase of two former Dutch Navy minesweepers was first announced in September, when the Deputy Defense Minister, Anatoly Velichkov with the total budget was then worth EUR3.5 million, with an extra EUR1.5 million to be spent for the vessels’ upgrade.

SUPER SERVANT 4 left Ijmuiden, Netherlands on Tuesday 8th September and expected to reach Bulgaria on Monday 21st September.

SUPER SERVANT 4 entering Marsaxlokk Harbour, Malta back to 14th August, 2016 to discharge yachts.

Her last call at Malta was back to January 2019 where she entered to load the 95 metres superyacht NEOM at Grand Harbour, Malta – see below images –
