Passenger Ships – AFRODITE

The first newbuilding passenger ship of Sten A. Olsson now the famous Stena Line was the 1964 built AFRODITE which called at Grand Harbour, Malta on Wednesday 28th April, 2010 for bunkering purposes while underway to new life in Lebanon.

She was built in Germany by D.W Kremer & Sohn, at Elmshorn holding a GRT of 564 tons and 42.52 m as length overall (later she was lengthened) with a beam of 8.01 metres. In 1998 her name was changed to NORDLICHT II trading until 2003 where she was renamed to ATLANTIS II. In 2004 as GLORIA II and in 2006 as AFRODITE again, this time homeported at Lome, Togo (TGO),

There were rumours that she was up to a conversion into a motor yacht but till 2020 she was still a passenger ship, last seen in Cyprus as MED STAR II homeported at Freetown with Sierra Leone (SLE) flag and GRT of 909 tons.
