Research/Survey Vessel – ASTREA

One of the smallest research ships worldwide is the 23.70m long scientific and technological research vessel ASTREA.

Berthed at Dwq 3 back 10 10th July, 2006.

She is operated by ICRAM (Central Institute for the scientific and technological Research – environmental Ministry). The vessel has been in order to operate in the most flexible way, both for the scientific requirements (the vessel is able to transport and utilize any equipment which can fit inside the boat) and for the logistic requirements (the vessel operates through all the Mediterranean sea without limitations of distance from the coast).

Berthed at Pinto 4 Wharf back to 10th June 2007.

She is equipped with a cleansing implant for all the drainage’s, low acoustic emissions plants, hull shape and able to perform oceanographic research ; single-beam and multi-beam sounding; tugboat functions and ROV’s. The 50 cubic metres working place on the stern has been fitted with A-Frame and oceanographic winch for cable ; 300 kg load telescopic crane with a 5 meters opening and a hold for the equipment.
