No other injuries were reported.
The SS JEREMIAH O’BRIEN, a World War II ship based at Pier 45, would have been lost in the fire without the assistance of fire boats. She is a Liberty ship built during World War II and named after the American Revolutionary War ship captain Jeremiah O’Brien. Now based in San Francisco, she is a rare survivor of the 6th June 1944 D-Day armada off the coast of Normandy, France.
