Casualties – RIVER ELBE disabled – 20.01.2020

On Monday 20th January, 2020 the 1984 built general cargo ship RIVER ELBE entered Grand Harbour at 0640 hrs under her own power.

After passing Senglea Point she lost her propulsion and was disabled of which the pilot onboard required a tug for assistance especially for berthing. Tugboat ST. ANGELO which was heading to her berth after completing another tug assistance operation headed to the coaster.

At 0713 hrs the vessel RIVER ELBE was secured to her berth at Magazine Wharf. She was built in 1986 by Damen Shipyard Gorinchem at Gorinchem, the Netherlands as NIELS trading until June 1992; NADINE from June 1992 to November 1997; PAHNA from November 1997 to June 2001; LILIANA from June 2001 to November 2005; WERSE from November 2005 to April 2006 and OCEANIC II from April 2006 to October 2011.
