Fairplay Towage Group has been awarded a licence to operate harbour tugs in the Port of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, thus making the company’s services available in Spanish waters for the first time.
Fairplay’s operations out of Las Palmas will utilise four modern tugs sailing with Spanish crew, homeported in Spain and are all named after landmarks on the Canary Islands.
The company said the local government is still reviewing licences for operations in nearby waters in Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura and the tugs have already performed the first operations in the port.
