Tugboat – GPS AVENGER at Malta – 01.03.2020

The 2709 Shoalbuster GPS AVENGER entered Valletta, Malta for few hours on Sunday 1st March for the first time she was built in the Netherlands by Damen at Hardinxveld in 2013. She has two Caterpillar engines delivering 3.000 BHP which results in 38.8 tons bollard pull. In combination with minimal draft, the 200 BHP bow thruster and twin fixed propellers in nozzles, gives the vessel maximum manoeuvrability.

She was berthed at Pinto 3 Wharf at Valletta Cruise Port for Stores and bunkers via road tanker by Valletta Bunkers.

Till date she’s the second tug that entered Valletta from GPS Marine of which both in 2006 and 2008 we saw the single screw tug ALEXANDRA a Medway Tug homeported at Liverpool. She was built in 1963 by W.J. Yarwood & Sons Ltd., Norwich, UK as yard number 940.
