One of the interesting marine assets involved in BFT (BlueFin Tuna) Season 2019 is for sure the former beam trawler THOR BEAMER. We used to see her here at Valletta since she was owned by the Faroese Offshore Company – Thor Offshore bearing the same name used for seismic guard vessel.
She was built in the Netherlands by Visser Scheepswerf at Den Helder in 1988 as BROEDERTROUW until June 2002, was renamed as KATHARINA K until May 2006 until she was purchased by Thor Offshore and renamed her as THOR BEAMER.
She was sold in October 2018 to a Maltese Company – Malta Towage Ltd based at Marsascala, bearing the same name and homeported at Valletta, Malta and brought to Malta during November 2018, berthing at Church Wharf.
She was lifted to her hard at MMH Facilities with fresh paint during April, 2019.
She was chartered to AJD Tuna Co Ltd and as seen below berthing at Dwq 1 loading nets and equipment as seen below on 1st June 2019.
