On Saturday 23rd June 2012, while on Aerial Surveillance a Flotilla of 5 Chinese Fishing Vessels were photographed from the air by MALTA SHIP PHOTOS offshore Sicily heading to West Africa.
They consisted of FU YUAN YU 967 bearing mmsi 412110429

FU YUAN YU 969
FU YUAN YU 970
FU YUAN YU 971 bearing mmsi 412110221
There were rumours that these vessels amongst others were heading to Mauritania which is the eleventh largest country in Africa and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara to the north and northwest, Algeria to the northeast, Mali to the east and southeast and Senegal to the southwest.
