The Italian Navy San Giorgio Class Amphibious Transport Dock Landing Ship L9894 ITS SAN GIUSTO called for a diplomatic visit on Thursday 12th April  2018 berthing at Pinto 3 Wharf assisted by 2 tugs. She’s currently the Flagship of Operation Sophia part of European Naval Force Mediterranean.

Later in the morning the Rear Admiral Alberto Maffeis visited the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) Commander and to the Missione Italiana di Collaborazione nel Campo della Difesa (MICCD) at Luqa Barracks  where a presentation was held by Capo Missione Capitano di Fregata Commander Pier Paolo Daniele.
