The 2009 built MLT flag tugboat SPINOLA left Marsaxlokk Harbour, Malta at 0851 hrs (0751 UTC) for  a position at Hurd Bank Area to start towing the 2003 built MLT flag and owned tanker SANTA LUCIA on Friday 16th March 2018 after an engine failure. She started towing the disabled tanker at 1000 hrs (0900 UTC) bound to Valletta to berth the tanker at the Ricasoli Jetty.

While towage arrived at the pilot station at 1358 hrs (1258 UTC), a harbour pilot with another tugboat LIENI came out to assist to start entering Valletta –

After SPINOLA shortened the tow wire towage started to approach the entrance at 1442 hrs (1342 UTC) –

At 1503 hrs (1403 UTC) towage entered Valletta for Ricasoli –
